TOILET PAPER TRASH POEMS

NOW ON VIEW AT THE SAN FRANCISCO MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

En caso de una emergencia húmeda, usa este poema.

Me siento detrás de la máquina de escribir en mi departamento en Oaxaca, México. Escribo un poemita tonto sobre la humedad humana.

Tecleo, arranco y repito 50 veces. El contenido imita al material. Barato, chistoso, rápido, desechable y común.

Dentro de estos límites de material y lenguaje:
palabras comunes + material común = un objeto no común

Voy por la ciudad y dejo estas poesíartes en espacios públicos. Es un juego con extraños, una interacción íntima entre emociones y un pedazo de papel de baño.

Quizás lo lean y se suenen la nariz, se limpien el culo o lloren en él. Quizás se lo lleven a casa y lo cuelguen en una pared. Quizás termine en la basura y sea olvidado.

pa’ las lagrimas inesperadas
pa’ la nariz que no deja de moquear
pa’ las heridas sangrientas
pa’ las axilas después de caminar

pa’ la vagina mojada
pa’ las noches de amor

pa’ las chillonas
las mocosas
y también pa’ ti:

ten.
guárdalo.
úsalo.
tíralo.
olvídalo.

y ya.

for your bloody wounds
for your stinky rear

for your wet vagina
and nights of passion
dry your pits
get back in action

this paper might be trash
but if it’s useful
for you…

take it,
save it,
use it,
misplace it,
throw it away,

and forget it.

In case of a wet emergency, use this poem.

I sit behind the typewriter in my apartment in Oaxaca, México. I write a silly little poem about human wetness.

I type, I rip and I repeat 50 times. Content mimics material. Cheap, cutesy, quick, disposable and common.

Within these limits of material and language:
common words + common material = an uncommon performance

I go around town and leave these poetryarts in public spaces. It is a game I play with strangers, an intimate interaction between emotions and a piece of toilet paper.

Perhaps they read it and wipe their nose, clean their ass, or cry into it. Perhaps they take it home and hang it on a wall. Perhaps it ends up in the trash and is forgotten.

Out of this edition of 50, 40 will be left in public spaces and photographed and documented.

And of course, 10 of the 50 limited edition prints are for sale for my friends who want to own a piece of my funny experiments. My fingers are sore after this one.
